Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the questions that the author is frequently asked:

  • Is this a pro-Hillary book or an anti-Hillary book?

Hillary Clinton is one of the most polarizing figures in American politics, and I know it seems like everyone in the world either loves her or hates her. But believe it or not, I tried to write a NEUTRAL Hillary book. Where her campaign screwed up, I wrote about it. Where her campaign triumphed, I wrote about it. That’s not to say I have no opinions, but it means that I tried, wherever possible, to be extremely honest and just tell it like it was – whether that made the senator and her staff look good or bad, or whether it made me and my colleagues in the media look good or bad. Of course, in the end, she won the campaign – so ultimately the book is a chronicle of how she evolved from a first lady and novice candidate prone to mistakes, to the consummate politician, able to win a decisive victory in a state where she had never lived by mobilizing women, appealing to upstate New Yorkers and even persuading a few fence-sitters to support her.

  • Has Hillary read the book?

Copies of the book were sent to Sen. Clinton and several of her current and former staffers. But I haven’t heard back from any of them, so I really don’t know what the senator thinks.

  • Will Hillary run for president?

I am certain she will NOT run in 2004. However, I would not be surprised if she tests the waters at some point down the road. She is only 54, so she has a long political career ahead of her. Although she always says, when asked, that she is NOT interested in running, I don't see why she would not consider it at some point down the road if polls showed she had a decent chance.
